Get ready for Gadgeteers, arriving at Blackfen Community Library this summer. Starting on Sat 9th July to 10 Sep 2022.

Science is all around you! What do you love doing? Are you a brilliant baker? Or a mega music fan? Are you the tech wizard amongst your friends? Join the Gadgeteers for the Summer Reading Challenge to discover the amazing science and innovation behind the world around you, including some of your favourite things!

Curious? Perfect! Your imagination can unlock endless possibilities… We’re teaming up with Science Museum Group for a very special science-themed Challenge that will inspire you to use your imagination and creativity!

Gadgeteers will feature amazing books, awesome rewards, and plenty of ideas for cool experiments and activities to discover the science all around you. The Challenge will be brought to life by top children’s writer and illustrator Julian Beresford.

The challenge runs from Saturday 9 July to Saturday 10 September here at Blackfen Community Library.

Children are being asked to read 6 books to help the Gadgeteers. As they read library books, they will collect stickers for their folder. If they want to read another 6 books they can enter our lucky dip and prize draw. All children who complete at least 6 books will receive a certificate and a medal.

Children can read any library book of their choice; fiction, non-fiction, picture books or books they share with parents and carers – they all count.

The Summer Reading Challenge is delivered by libraries and produced by The Reading Agency. It is open to all children, free of charge.

Keep a look out for our special Summer Reading Challenge Activities too over the Summer Holidays at Blackfen Community Library on our website and social media.

Sign up at Blackfen Community Library from 9th July 2022. You will need a library card – you can join if you don’t already have one!
