Book Review: The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q RaufΒ

I rate β€˜The Boy At The Back Of The Class’ 3 out of 3 because the book was so good and I enjoyed reading it a lot.Β  The book was about a 9 year old boy and a group of his friends wanting to help the new boy that comes to their school as a refugee from Syria.Β  Throughout the story the friends take on a massive part in Ahmet’s life.Β  My favourite part of the story was when Ahmet and his friends were on the news and they got a letter inviting them to the Queens palace.Β  Overall this book was great.

Book Review: The Day we Met the Queen by Onjali Q Rauf

I rate β€˜The Day We Met The Queen’ a 2 out of 3 because it was good but the book was quite short and it wasn’t as good as the first book.Β  This book followed on from the first book ‘The Boy at the Back of the Class’.Β  It was about Ahmet and his friends finally meeting the Queen.Β  Before the big day they had a school assembly to talk about their invite to the Queen’s Palace.Β  The assembly didn’t quite go to plan as someone set off a stink bomb.Β  The whole school had to evacuate the building as it stunk!Β  That wasn’t the only thing that happened, the other thing was that when they got to the Queen’s Palace there was a protest going on!Β  They couldn’t get to the Queen’s Palace on time.Β  A posh car started driving towards them and shouted their names. Did Ahmet and his friends get to the Queen’s Palace for tea?Β Β Overall this book was good.

Book Review: Do You Speak Chocolate? by Cas Lester

I rate β€˜Do You Speak Chocolate’ a 3 out of 3 because it was a fantastic book.Β Β  I really, really, really enjoyed this book.Β  This book is about a girl called Jaz and the new girl called Nadima. Now Nadima doesn’t speak any English and Jaz has dyslexia so they find it hard to communicate.Β  Jaz found the best way to make friends with Nadima.Β  That was by offering Nadima a chocolate bar.Β  In response to that Nadima grins and hands some Turkish delight over to Jaz.Β  They immediately become best friends.Β  Jaz has previously lost her best friend Lily.Β  Lily is now best friends with Kara. Jaz hates Kara and Kara hates Jaz. Things gets better when Nadima arrives in the classroom.Β  Their friendship doesn’t go smoothly.Β  Jaz cooks up a plan to make Turkish delight but it doesn’t end well. A drama project about family trees proved impossible to manage for Nadima, and last but not least the worst possible results for their friendship comes on charity week! When Nadima realised that Jaz was only trying to help they managed to become friends again. I would really recommend this book.
