Get ready for The Summer Reading Challenge, arriving at Blackfen Community Library this summer. Starting on Tuesday 7th July to Friday 4th Sept 2026.
Children are being asked to read 6 books. As they read library books, they will collect stickers for their folders. If they want to read another 3 or 6 books they can get extra prizes. All children who complete at least 6 books will receive a certificate and a medal.
Children can read any library book of their choice; fiction, non-fiction, picture books, audio books or books they share with parents and carers – they all count. Children who aren’t reading yet can still take part in the challenge as can older children and teenagers – everyone is welcome!
The Summer Reading Challenge is delivered by libraries and produced by The Reading Agency. It is open to all children, free of charge.

Sign up at Blackfen Community Library from 7th July. You will need a Blackfen Community Library card – you can join if you don’t already have one – just ask at the front desk!
